BIG SEEKER
NEW! The BIG SEEKER is my take on the classic *Big Muff fuzz. Now available in five versions to choose from, Triangle, Green Russian, Ram’s Head, Supa Tonebender and Creamy Dreamer! The BIG SEEKER is built on custom Seeker PCB using various NOS transistors, NOS diodes, NOS capacitors and carbon film resistors. An adjustable midrange knob can be added for a small up-charge. This allows for a scooped, flat or mid forward tone adjustment to help the fuzz sit in the right place in the mix, either laying back or standing out forward.
Triangle is the fuzziest version, lots of sizzling harmonic content, bubbling low end and a little more crunch and fuzz to the texture. Based off of a V1 Triangle from ‘71 with quirky values! EQ remains relatively flat for a muff but has a gentle scoop with a wide sweep on the tone control from bassy to trebly. BC108 transistors.
The Russian is very big and bubbly, tight low end and a good amount of midrange, slightly lower gain with a great range on both the sustain and tone control. Classic 90’s *Big Muff tones! Great with bass too. BC549C transistors.
The Ram is based off of a ‘73 V2 Violet Rams Head. It has a gently scooped EQ response with great treble response and thick but tight low end. Bigger range on the sustain from low to high gain. Great for lead playing with singing sustain. Everything from Gilmour to Mascis tones. BC239C transistors.
Supa is unique, technically based on the Supa Tonebender made by Solasound in the mid/late 70s, it’s Sola’s take on the Muff circuit, very close to a Rams Head spec with the diodes lifted from Q2, giving it a bump in volume and a clearer tone, with warmth and big low end. Sonically wide with tons of sustain and more midrange than the Ram. BC183C transistors.
Dreamer is based on the more modern take called the “Creamy Dreamer” released in the 90s. A very high gain and scooped variation that sits somewhere between Russian and Triangle values, but with the emitter resistors jumped for maximum gain in each stage. A unique take on the muff circuit that has its own character. 2N5088/5089 transistors.
All versions available in Black/yellow, Olive Green/Black or Silver Hammer/Red or Purple Sparkle/White finish. Standard 9v operation with true bypass switching and LED indicator.
Please allow 6-8 weeks for build time on your custom made fuzz.
